Sponsors Cell Phones for Soldiers
RobsonWoese
Inc is proud to be Syracuse's sponsor of Cell Phones for Soldiers,
helping to support a nationwide effort started by two children
in Massachusetts. Proceeds will support units in Iraq and
Afghanistan adopted by RW and News Channel 9. When two Massachusetts
siblings read about a soldier in Iraq who couldn't afford
to keep in touch with his loved ones back home, they decided
to start a fund to pay for his $7,600 cell phone bill. When
his bill was waived by his phone company, they did some research
and found he wasn't the only soldier struggling to call home.
There were thousands of others that were, too.
Many
of our employees are veterans or have family members currently
in Iraq. Lynn Ewing's husband recently returned from a tour
of duty in Iraq with the NY Army National Guard, and Karen
Oertel's son is currently there with the US Army for his second
tour. Karen came upon this program and brought it to our attention
during Brian's first tour.
RW is partnering with News Channel 9, WSYR, in Syracuse in support of this effort. Over an eight-week period, News Channel 9 will run Public Service Announcements regarding Cell Phones for Soldiers under the RW logo and News Channel 9.
The RW Syracuse office is now an official drop-off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers. We accept any make, model, and condition of cell phone including batteries and all accessories. If any of you have friends, relatives or clients who would like to contribute old cell phones and accessories, bring them in for the collection box in the Syracuse office. Please support our troops!
