Fire/Life Safety Assessment and Planning
Identify risks and design safeguards that aid
in preventing, controlling, and mitigating
the effects of fires.
Involving RobsonWoese fire protection engineers at the planning stage allows identification of key fire protection and code issues, design requirements and code equivalencies to reach the project’s objectives.
- Development of fire and life safety concepts including fire service response plans
- Implementation methods to work towards common fire and life safety goals
- Integration of code provisions to coordinate a cost effective, efficient project approach
- Design team assistance and guidance from inception through construction
- On site reviews of existing or new facilities to identify deficiencies relative to life or property from fire
- Review documents, drawings, and specifications for code and project criteria
- Recommended solutions to maximize cost benefit ratios
Case Study
West Point United States Military Academy
New York
RobsonWoese provided multi-discipline consulting services to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. The goal was to support the academy in their mission to continue to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets.
Bartlett Hall, Building 753
RW developed two code equivalency concepts that permitted occupancy of some existing floor spaces so the entire building would align with fire safety and fire protection criteria.
Buildings 667A and 667B
RW conducted an extensive fire and life safety code review, identified referenced code deficiencies, then prioritized improvements with cost estimates as a basis for additional project work. Selection, design, specifications and cost estimating for the fire alarm system were a critical part of this phase. On-site water flow testing was conducted with analysis to ascertain water flow availability and pressures.
