Located on the south shore of Onondaga Lake, Carousel
Center is a 1,500,000 sq. ft. super-regional mall that
features six multi-level department stores, more than
200 specialty retail shops located on two levels, a
140-foot high central atrium, 12 motion picture theaters,
a fourth level reception area, and the Carousel Center
Sky Deck, a banquet and convention facility at the top
of the atrium complete with a 2,800 sq. ft. institutional
kitchen. Also included in the Center is a fully restored
and operating, hand-carved, 42 horse antique carousel
that originally stood along the same shoreline 80 years
ago.
RW provided complete mechanical and electrical systems
design. The HVAC system consists of rooftop equipment
utilizing economizer operation with the capability of
smoke exhaust in the event of fire. In addition, RW
performed exhaustive building fire protection analysis
to include life safety and fire protection.
