RobsonWoese served as code consultant when the University
of Rochester desired to update and reconfigure its fire
protection and life safety design standards.
Existing standards were completely re-written and modified
to serve as guidelines for all new construction and
renovation projects throughout the University, both
on and off campus. This enabled clarification and new
direction to reflect newer technologies and codes, as
well as improvement to quality and consistency for design,
construction and maintenance for various systems.
Updates included fire guideline standards, record drawings,
roofing systems, fire doors and windows, fire protection
systems (i.e. sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, piping,
valves, etc.), protection for electronic data processing
areas, and use of codes/standards as well as means of
egress and special fire protection and life safety concerns.
